The mission of AFOCEL, a French research and study organisation,
is to improve the sustainable competitiveness of France's
forestry sector. Environment is one of AFOCEL's primary
areas of study and consensus development, which led us
to initiate and direct the GEDEON project.

The forest harvesting company, pertaining to the Smurfit
Group, Smurfit Comptoir du Pin has the principal role
of wood supplying for Smurfit Cellulose du Pin (Biganos
- 33), kraft paper manufacturer for packaging and for
Smurfit Rol Pin (Labouheyre - 40), plywood manufacturer.
Engaged since many years in the sustainable management
of forests, Smurfit Comptoir du Pin obtained in 2003 the
PEFC certification of its chains of custody.
SCDP engaged in the GEDEON project, in order to improve
the mode of management of forestry harvesting wastes and
to help its subcontractors partners in this environmental
step

SEBSO is a forestry company whose head office is located
in Saint Gaudens (31). It is owned by Canada's TEMBEC
Inc. group. SEBSO's mission is to supply softwood logs
to TEMBEC's Tarascon mill (13) and hardwood logs to TEMBEC's
Saint Gaudens mill (31). To perform harvesting operations
that meet the requirements of the ISO 14001 Environmental
Management System certification, SEBSO emphasizes sustainable
forest management and conforms with the Program for the
Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC) system.
This is why SEBSO has chosen to participate in the GEDEON
project: to improve the management of the wastes generated
by its harvesting operations and those of its contractors.

GIPEBLOR is a multidisciplinary group whose role is to
promote wood use and development of the Lorraine region's
forestry sector. It regularly undertakes and hosts collective
activities that benefit forestry companies ("entreprises
des travaux forestiers", ETF) in areas related to
the environment or quality.
ADEME, Conseil régional Lorraine
et Agence de l'eau Rhin-Meuse interviennent en
co-financement pour les opérations en région
Lorraine.
Ce co-financement permet de renforcer l'intervention de
l'Etablissement Public Local d'Enseignement Agricole
des Vosges (EPLEA) qui comprend le CFPPA de Mirecourt.
