CTB P+ (Produits de traitement)

For more than 20 years, this certification has attested to the effectiveness of wood preservatives when applied by a defined and recognised effective process, to make wood a reliable and safe material with respect to human health and the environment.

Timber means logs felled specifically for trade and all subsequent uses of the log as a solid wood material or wood-based products.
The CTB-P+ mark also applies by extension to anti-moth treatment products, such as barriers (to protect new buildings) and traps (to monitor buildings).

CTB-P+ certification takes into account the requirements of Directive 98/8/EC concerning the placing of biocidal products on the market. The products concerned generally correspond to type 8 and type 18 (traps or termite barriers) of Annex V of Directive 98/8/EC.

The products concerned by CTB-P+ certification include preparations with or without active ingredients, in the state in which they are placed on the market.

CTB-P+ certified products are intended to protect wood from organisms destroying or altering its appearance (fungi, insects including termites or marine borers) or to stop an attack by these organisms.
These preparations or products are applied either to wood or wood-based products, or in contact with or on non-wood substrates (e.g. floors, walls and building foundations), depending on their claim to action.

CTB-P+ certification therefore defines the suitability for use of products taking into account, apart from the regulations

  • reliability, which is expressed by sufficient durability in the function (effectiveness of the treatment)
  • safety in use
  • safety, which is expressed in the words of experts in the form of opinions concerning the acceptability of products for human health and the environment.
  • their suitability for use
