On 8 December 2022, the closing meeting of the "Menuiseries des Pays de Loire" collective operation was held. The operation was launched at the end of 2020 by BOIS HD, the ESB's engineering centre, in partnership with the FCBA technology institute, and with the support of the Pays de Loire region.

As the PDL region alone accounts for 20% of French wood joinery production, this initiative was aimed primarily at small and medium-sized businesses. The main objective was to secure local production of wood and mixed wood-aluminium windows by making product design and manufacture more reliable. Support alternated between group and individual sessions.

8 companies took part, including the joineries :

  • MENUAU,
  • MCO,
  • POUPIN,
  • MARQUIS,
  • BIGNON,
  • The LACOUR workshop
  • PERRAULT workshops
  • and LMB MARTIN Frères.

The collective phase was devoted to the design and manufacture of the windows, and to product and quality system audits for each company. The companies particularly appreciated the 3 days of discussions, which included visits to various workshops (the LACOUR workshop, LMB MARTIN Frères and the MARQUIS joinery). The visit to the Bourdaud sawmill and the presentation of the Bois de France label helped to raise awareness of the use of local wood and gave a different perspective on the upstream side of their trade.

In addition, 7 joiners took part in the individual coaching phase:

  • CE marking” level: carrying out an AEV test and a thermo-optical calculation
  • FCBA technical file certifying that their range complies with all the French standards in force and the AEV, Endurance, acoustic and thermo-optical performance of their range. This FCBA technical file is the first step towards obtaining the “Fenêtres Bois 21” quality label or the “NF Fenêtre Bois et portes extérieures” certification.
