With the support of CODIFAB and CITEO, FCBA launched a study on the eco-design of packaging used in the furniture industry in early 2021. We present a mid-term update on this collaborative study.

With the support of CODIFAB and CITEO, FCBA launched a study on the eco-design of packaging used in furniture at the beginning of 2021 in order to participate in the search for solutions to reduce or even eliminate the use of plastic packaging such as polystyrene and heat-shrinkable films.

Indeed, the regulatory context within the framework of the AGEC and Climate and Resilience laws is pushing manufacturers to find alternatives to virgin plastics of fossil origin.

During this first year, a watch was conducted to both identify emerging solutions and question marketers (manufacturers, distributors) on their feedback. This monitoring will be used in 2023 to conduct experiments with pilot companies to identify viable technical and economic solutions.
