Determination of curative efficacy against the emergence of Anobium punctatum (common furniture beetle)
Standard NF EN 370 describes a method for assessing the curative effectiveness of a wood preservative against the emergence of the common furniture beetle (or Anobium punctatum) after surface treatment of infested wood test specimens.

This test is referenced in standard EN 14128 and is one of the tests that may be required for marketing authorisation of biocidal products.

Wood blocks are surface treated (doses and application methods specified by the product manufacturer).

Twelve small woodworm larvae are then placed inside the treated blocks.

At the end of the test, the evaluation criteria are the survival rate of the small woodworm larvae and whether or not adult insects emerge.
