Determination of the preventive efficacy of a wood protection treatment applied against fungal blue stain

The NF EN152 standard aims to assess the effectiveness of a product, finish or product and finish system in protecting wood against blue stain fungi.
Samples of Scots pine sapwood are treated with the product to be tested. They are then subjected to artificial or natural ageing and exposed to blue stain fungi. At the end of the test, the product’s effectiveness is assessed based on the appearance or absence of stains on the surface and deep within the wood, according to the criteria of standard EN 599-1.
