Determination of the slip resistance of sewing threads in fabrics
The purpose of this test is to ensure that the gap created by the shifting of the threads is less than a specified threshold. It simulates the spreading of the fabric threads on either side of a seam, either during seat assembly or when someone sits on the seat.
The test involves folding a strip of fabric and sewing it along its width. The strip is cut close to the fold and subjected to a force perpendicular to the seam using tear-test clamps. The extent of the seam opening is measured.
