Furniture - Fixed and folding cradle beds for domestic use for children - safety requirements and test methods
The purpose of this test is to verify the safety requirements for all types of domestic carrycots for children with an internal length greater than 900 mm but not exceeding 1,400 mm.

The standard involves checking the safety and suitability for use of the product and its components. To do this, the entire bed and its components are subjected to various types of tests :

  • General safety tests: we come here to check that there is no risk of cutting, pinching, snagging, suffocation, etc. The locking mechanisms and the entire structure are also subject to numerous requirements to ensure that the bed cannot close unintentionally.
  • Stability tests: the beds will be subjected to various usage scenarios in order to cover all risks of the product tipping over.
  • an impact test on the bed base and the carrycot to simulate a fall onto the bed
  • tests for resistance to reasonably foreseeable loads: the bed will be loaded and stressed horizontally and vertically according to reasonably foreseeable use cases for this type of furniture. The idea is to avoid any risk of injury related to the structure collapsing.

Checking the information contained in the leaflet also ensures that the user is properly informed about how to use the product.
