The aim of this test is to simulate the ‘ripples’ that can appear on seats after a certain amount of use.
Pocketing manifests as a semi-spherical deformation, the extent of which is related to the deflection value.
The indentation apparatus simulates in-service conditions by applying loads, pressure and repeated loading cycles. A wooden spherical cap is repeatedly pressed into a circular test specimen, the residual deformation of which represents the indentation.
