Between the thermal renovation objectives presented by the French government, the European incentive policies and the increase in competence for the renovation of old buildings, such as Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, manufacturers and researchers in the wood construction sector are expanding their knowledge and mobilising to bring new products to the market.

The renewable nature of the resource, the advanced prefabrication of walls and floors and the thermal performance are all advantages that timber construction is putting forward to meet the renovation markets. However, questions remain unanswered, such as the durability of materials, compliance with future regulations, and the technical constraints of associated products.
