The project (Group Induced Vibration on Light Floor) aims to evaluate the behaviour of wood and steel floors subjected to various loads and to define vibration comfort thresholds.

Sporting trials!

The GIVILIF project is a research project supported by ADEME and involving FCBA, CTICM and the Bordeaux School of Architecture (ENSAP). It aims to evaluate the behaviour of wood and/or steel floors subjected to various stresses and to define vibration comfort thresholds.

An instrumented floor was built at FCBA Bordeaux. Volunteers were able to participate in a sports session led by a professional coach. The aim of the project is to deduce the loads experienced by the floor and to identify the types of movement that cause the most vibrations. The tests were carried out in good spirits, although there were a few aches and pains on the following days!
At the same time, the volunteers were subjected to vibrations of varying amplitudes on a vibrating table. In these tests, we are trying to determine which physical parameters (frequency, speed, acceleration, etc.) make the vibrations uncomfortable, although of course the perception of comfort varies greatly from one individual to another.

The project started in September 2021 and is planned for 3 years, with several other tests in the laboratory and in in situ structures.
