Project statement

The GAYA project aims to demonstrate the technical, economic, environmental and societal validity of the thermochemical gaseous biofuel production process on a pre-industrial scale. The project will build and operate a demonstrator in order to remove the current barriers to the sector and improve its performance. The ambition of the GAYA project is to build on the work initiated in Europe to significantly advance the sector through innovative developments.

Project objectives

From a “field to wheel” perspective, the project aims to :

  • Demonstrate the technical and economic validity of a portfolio of innovative gasification and methanisation technologies.
  • Demonstrate the environmental and societal validity of the sector “Valorisation of co-products, limitation of effluents, optimisation of energy integration and environmental aspects, non-competition on the resource”.
  • Have the tools for industrialisation (simulation and decision support tools).
  • Guarantee a sustainable and profitable supply chain by structuring the chain and knowledge of biomass supply basins and integration into a biorefinery concept.
