Determining curative action against Hylotrupes bajulus larvae (or house longhorn beetles)
Standard NF EN 1390 describes a laboratory test method for assessing the curative effectiveness of wood preservatives against larvae of the house longhorn beetle Hylotrupes bajulus (laboratory method).

As part of the marketing authorisation process for European biocidal products, this test, cited in standard NF EN 14128, may be required.
Standard NF EN 1390 aims to evaluate the curative efficacy of a wood preservative product on house longhorn beetle larvae. Larvae are introduced into test tubes containing Scots pine sapwood.

After a 15-day settling-in period, the infested test tubes are treated with the product being tested (applied by brushing). Larvae mortality is then assessed after several weeks.
