Domestic nappy changing facilities - safety requirements and test methods

NF EN 12221 specifies the safety requirements applicable to domestic nappy changing facilities for children weighing up to 15 kg. NF EN 12221 deals solely with the function of the article in question as a “nappy changing facility”.

If a changing unit is convertible or can be used for other purposes (cot, storage unit, etc.), it must comply with other applicable standards. 

The changing unit may be foldable and equipped with a baby bath or other accessories. Changing mats are only covered by this document when they form an integral part of the changing unit.

It also specifies test methods for assessing the safety of domestic nappy changing facilities. It should be noted that the effect of ageing and material degradation is not taken into account.
