New decree on coffins

Decree N° 2021-1641 was published on 13 December 2021. It modifies Decree No. 2018-966 of 8 November 2018 on coffins, which provided for a deadline for compliance of coffins and watertight linings, as of 1 July 2021.

In view of the health crisis and the time needed to finalise the guide setting out the rules for implementing this regulation, Decree No. 2021-1641 of 13 December 2021 grants an additional period of time to bring these products into compliance, until January 1st 2013.

A noter

The “Guide for the issuance of certificates of conformity for coffins“, drafted by FCBA, was prepared under the aegis of the ministries in charge of local authorities, health and the environment, for the application of Article R. 2213-25-1 of the General Code of Local Authorities, as amended by Decree No. 2018-966.
Its drafting, like each of its updates, is the subject of consultation with all the stakeholders, and in particular with the marketers of coffins.
